Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell, an American TV chef, and the former Institute of Culinary Education instructor she is a popular TV host. The host of the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and is co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides straightforward, simple techniques to master to cook at home on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in various top eateries located in New York, studied the tradition of Italian cuisine, and the culinary landscape in Italy and competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in Upstate New York Chef Burrell was infatuated by food. She pursued her passion for the restaurant industry by enrolling at The Culinary Institute of America after earning a degree in English and communication from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. The student says "I loved being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I enjoyed every moment." It was impossible to learn, do or work enough. After graduating, Chef Burrell was able to spend a full year in Italy attending Italy's Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 a one Michelin-starred restaurant located in Tuscany. Through her stay in Italy she grew to truly comprehend and appreciate the concepts of Italian cuisine and its culture, which left a lasting impact from a culinary viewpoint. Burrell is a celebrity ambassador of the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She also has served on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists kids with disabilities. Burrell travels extensively across the country in her role as a mentor and public speaker in which she speaks about her profession and her love for cooking. Anne stated that she felt privileged in that she could impart her enthusiasm to other people.
